Unit Elections
The Order of the Arrow is Scoutings Honor Society chartered by the Boy Scouts of America. It recognizes those
campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. The OA promotes camping and
crystallizes the habit of helpfulness as a life purpose.
Each Boy Scout Troop and Varsity Team, with qualified Scouts, is urged to hold an election no later than
April 30th, to select candidates for membership in the Order of the Arrow. The date and place of the election
must be coordinated with your Chapter Unit Elections team with the help of your OA Unit Representative and
your Unit Leader.
Scouts who are elected by their unit are publicly recognized at Call-Out ceremonies held weekly at Camp Cornhusker
during summer camp. They are then invited to the Golden Sun Lodge's annual Fall Pow-Wow, held in early August, to
take the Ordeal ceremony and become a member in the Order of the Arrow.
